Oct 24 - Still Alishan......until Sun Moon Lake and anything in between....

After the Taiwanese sunrise watching, we proceed to the woods. Most of the trees were very old and some of them were thousands years of age.

This is Spouses' Wood. Supposingly looks like the husband and wife holding hands from afar. Which one is husband and wife, I guess you can judge.

The nice view of the mountain in the Alishan area, on the way back from the sunrise spot to the Alishan town.

Literally translated as God Tree (shen-mu).

The Alishan railway track. But the track was damaged during the typhoon few weeks before I was there, so the train is not operating, another regrets sigh~

The Sister's Lake. Aptly named due to two lakes next to each other.

One of the mu / tree. Forgot which animal it resembles.

I think this is what they use to make tabasco.

One of the temple in Alishan. It's reachable with some trekking in the woods.

Yes, you eyes are OK. It's Starbucks, opening soon in Alishan.
Sigh~~~ How globalised the world can be huh?

This is one of the famous home-stay near to the main town bus station area in Alishan, unmistakeably identified by the replica of the train next to the entrance.

Fan anyone? Creatively and innovatively made from plastic bottle.

" Gao Shan Qing.... ..... Alishan De Gu Niang......" OK, the name of the hotel we stayed is Gao Shan Qing and yes, it's the title of the famous "mountain song" that Cruel Angel remember so much. In fact, I think the room on the left was the one I stayed.

This one is the hotel next to the Gao Shan Qing.

We left Alishan in a 7-seater orginally rented by a group of traveller from Canton, China and together, we proceed to Sun Moon Lake.

Upon reaching Sun Moon Lake and checked in to the nice hotel (previous post here), we make way to the boat trip to the lake itself and saviour the nice view of the sunset.

And it's such a coincidence that the travellers from Canton that we shared the 7-seater before this were on the same boat too!!!

The boat brought us around the lake and we stopped at one of the rest house and it's a nice holiday get-away kind of retreat. It's equipped with canoe for rent, fishing facilities and a nice room to boot too.

Rooms available for accomodation.

The "restaurant" area that serve nice soup and fishball.

The comrades from Canton, China. The couple (furthest left and right). Their friend (2nd from left) and guide (3rd from left)

The delicious fish soup. Yummy.

The soup with taugeh and also the fried fish, cracker-like.

Mr. Chen's place. His card and email.

Nice sunset view from the jetty of Mr. Chen's place.

Back on the boat to the main island in the lake.

The jetty of the island. Sun Moon Lake town is the one seen afar in the middle with buildings.

The comrades from China again.

Sunset....
Sunset again....
The moon was out already...... when the sun was setting. Sun Moon Lake huh?

Back to the mainland. The hotels around the jetty.

The main street in the town area at night.

The dinner at night. Apart from the special "purple" rice, the others were sadly mediocre.
