Oct 23 - Alishan (Pt 2)

After the long hours of bus journey from Chia-yi to Alishan on the long ang winding road, my stomach was drumming asking for fuel. The bus stopped at some town and had something to stop the drumming. I had some egg dessert and a bun if I'm not wrong. Also notable from the journey is the vast amount of land on the mountain was planted with 槟郎 (bin lang) or betel-nut.

Had late lunch in the restaurant above. Nice and interesting decor. Food-wise? So-so.....

The "gem-cham gu - Cantonese"/"jing zhen gu - Mandarin" soup. It's very fast-food type. Plastic spoon and paper bowl and cup. Eco-friendly?

Time for some walking around the area, especially after the lunch. With the nice weather and atmosphere, the walk was perfect. Above is the entrance walkway for the Alishan Resthouse.

The three generation wood. 三代木 or 3-generation wood, literally

I guess the pic is self-explanatory as it's quite obvious that it's the elephant.

A little "Lord-Of-The-Ring"ish, don't you think? On the way back to home Frodo Baggins?

A 5-course dinner. Taste-wise? Again, it's so-so as the best dish was the sweet-and-sour fried fish on the left. The greenies were actually kangkong while on the right of it is what they call the 高丽菜 which is cabbage. Mind you that vege was very expensive at that time since most of the veges planted were destroyed in the typhoon.

How can you miss the beer? The Taiwan Beer. It's warming your stomach in the cold weather, about 16 deg C (day time) and I think it's about 10-11 deg C at night. Or lower?
