Dream Home (2010) - Wai Do Lei Ya Yat Hou (Victoria #1)

Dream Home (2010) - Pang Ho Cheong (D)

Josie Ho, Eason Chan, Derek Tsang, Lawrence Chou, Yip Shuen, Juno Mak, Wong Ching

NOTE : Not suitable for pregnant ladies and those who can't take on-your-face violent scenes.

I now understand why when the movie was shown in one of the smaller film festival (in Italy if I am not wrong....), one of the audience, a middle-aged uncle had a heart-attack. Of course, the whole premise of the film is its gore scenes but being a movie by Pang, it's not just some gore scenes galore.

At the same time, you know it's Josie's vehicle when she produce the movie herself. Too bad she lost Best Actress to Carina Lau but she will get it one day though it might not be the best deserved role (just like Carina).

Pang is one of the new directors who in a way offered some hope to the deteriorating HK cinema. His other feature, Love in A Puff, which is TOTALLY different from this; was a rare gem that came out of the HK cinema in the recent years. I REALLY hope the sequel of Love in A Puff will be free of the malaise that plague HK movies recently; being "mainland-ised".

Break-Up Club (2010)

Break-Up Club (2010)
Director : Wong Chan Chan
Jaycee Chan, Fiona Sit, Patrick Tang

The two leads are natural. Wong tried something different here. Commendable but I love the movie mostly because of the performances of the leads. Surprisingly natural and good. And yes, Jaycee's acting is way much better than his father, Jackie Chan.

__________ Please Die

Donald Tsang Please Die - My Little Airport
It's Donald Tsang when Ah P pen the lyrics to this simple tune. Well, it can be anyone, in your relevant context.
Have a good week.

Love in A Puff (2010)

Love in A Puff (2010)
Director : Pang Ho-Cheung
Cast : Miriam Yeung, Shawn Yue

Try the trailer here. http://www.mediaasia.com/loveinapuff/tc_main.html

It's not ONLY a love story. Pang Ho-Cheung is delightful, as always. Shawn Yue has a certain charm in some strange way. I personally think Miriam gave her best ever movie performance here.

P/S : It's very HK production, no "bing-bing"s, Big-S or xiao ming and the gang. The movie title is a nice play of the Taiwanese Mayday's hit song but it has nothing to do with it.

陀飞轮 - 陈奕讯

作曲 : Vincent Chow
填词:黄伟文
编曲 : Gary Tong
监制 : Alvin Leong

Jackie Cheung is JAZZYING it UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo DOUBLE TAKE!!!!!!!!!!

I never buy any of Jacky Cheung's album. Maybe the reason was when he was the 4 Heavenly King of HK Pop, I had no money to buy any of his albums. After a long hiatus, he's now back to enthrall us with a jazz album. Well... my cup of tea!!!!!!!!!

I listened to HK CR2 903 radio and he's interviewed by Vani and heard a song called 十二个音 and the melody sounds sooooo familiar and it dawned on me that it's a cover of the song by my favourite Sabahan group, Double Take!!!! The original song composed by Roger Wang called Love Scale. Seriously... search for Double Take's album, support local artiste too. Their debut album released in 2002 is called One Voice.Six Strings.Twelve Mood.

Enjoy the good music. The kacau-bilau scenes in Malaysian political landscape need some rest.

《聖誕快樂》- (1984)

I never know that this song was actually featured in the movie. The movie is like the must-watch come every Christmas when I was a small kid. Of course, at the time, there were not many TV channels around, not even TV3 let alone paid cable. The movie will be shown without fail in TV2 or RTM2 at that time EVERY Christmas.. I mean... EVERY Christmas, just like another movie during Chinese New Year (let that be another post in the future). Helmed by Karl Mak and Paula Tsui, this feel-good movie also starred a lot of actors who's not here anymore, i.e. Leslie Cheung and Danny Chan.

Raw Jazz - Hanjin 陳奐仁 (Updated)

See him performing live here. Brilliant!!!

One of my favourite - Cheek to Cheek

If you are familiar with HK music scene, you will know Hanjin 陳奐仁 especially if you know Edison Chen. The Invisible Man anyone?
Given his hip-hop and trend-setting background this recorded-in-one-take-with-a-3-piece band-back-to-basics-raw jazz album is indeed a pleasant surprise! After searching for it high and low, I managed to get it from Rock Records in KL. Branded as on eof the best album of the year by Times magazine, this will stay in my playlist for quite a long time.

3rd KK Jazz Festival - 2nd Day - Jun Kung & The Junk Unit featuring Greg Lyons and Eugene Pao

The last performance comes with big names such as Greg Lyons and Eugene Pao, who to those uninitiated, are BIG names in the scene in the region. Lyons started out as a bassist but now a respected saxaphonist while Eugene had been an eminent figure in the jazz scene in HK in particular.

I like this keyboard player who's so cool with his shorts!

The great Greg with his exquisite soxaphone!!!

Eugene doing his thang!!!

Master with his fingers working out.....

The passion channeled not only through his music... apparently.

Love the saxaphone so much....aged but perfecto mundo!

Nothing beats watching and listening to the musicians jamming

I was kinda surprised with the appearance of Jun who's definitely recognizable to those who are familiar with the HK music scene. He is 恭硕良 who tried his luck in the mainstream music scene few years back. But I guess he found his footing better now in the idol-dominated HK Cantopop music scene.

All I can say is that, these guys are the epitome of cool and their brand of music are more to party-theme fusion oh... what the heck?? Who needs to categorize them in any way? Oh, being the naughty Jun, he did sang a song called Lazy Muther*&^%-er at the end of the performance but shove the mic to the audience during the chorus "Lazy Muther*&^%-er" line ala Leon Lai. Hahaha....wonder whether Ilyas Omar and the whole bunch of organizers were shivering in nervousness then.....

Hong Kong 9 : Kowloon Mosque

Hong Kong 8 : Kowloon Bird Park

A group of senior citizens were busy having bird-watching session. And they told us surprisingly the Kowloon Bird Park is one of the stops for the migratory birds from China on the way to South East Asia though it's surrounded by so many high rise concrete jungle.
