I Don't Wanna Give, Don't Want, Don't Want

I am not a lawyer. I am not working in any law firm. So I always have law-related questions which being in a place with kangaroo court definitely not gonna help.

I am amazed and puzzled by what I read in some prosecution case here. The prosecution apparently can suppress or not disclosing evidence or documents related to the case. Wouldn't this be unfair to the party being on trial? For example if a person on trial for stealing in a convenience store and prosecutor had a CCTV video of it, can they refuse to release the evidence when the defense request it? It totally baffles me.

Well, internet do enlighten us. Read Art Harun's post here on my question.

Petronas Changed CEO

Hassan Merican no more.
Shamsul Azhar Abbas (Hm....anyone knows any relations with the Abbas family here?) is in.

Petronas is the aorta for Malaysia, the biggest artery that sends oxygen to our brain.
Let's pray that the duck that lay golden eggs is not being harmed.
(well... I dare not use the word kill... can't imagine what will happen)

Politics Is Like A Tree Full Of Monkeys - Gus Dur

"Indonesian politics is like a tree full of monkeys. They are all on different limbs on different levels. Some are climbing down. Some are climbing up. The monkeys on top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces. The monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but a bunch of assholes" - Gus Dur, Abdurrahman Wahid (1940-2009). from OTE (Off The Edge, Feb 2010)

Well, look at our Malaysian politics then. nggak banyak bedanya!!!!! (not much difference!!!!!)

The Froggie Season Again

Hujan oh hujan mengapa engkau turun?
Hujan: Macamana aku tak turun? Katak panggil aku.......

It's official! The froggie season is here. The time when all the trojan show their real face. I here pray all the trojan killed by the best antivirus and all the froggie mati katak. Amen.

Update :
Zahrain said he wants to help BN to regain 2/3 majority again. And we know with 2/3 majority, UMNO can do any amendment to the already severely reconstructed constitution at their whim!!!! Malaysia officially has no hope if this really happen.

Jackie Cheung is JAZZYING it UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo DOUBLE TAKE!!!!!!!!!!

I never buy any of Jacky Cheung's album. Maybe the reason was when he was the 4 Heavenly King of HK Pop, I had no money to buy any of his albums. After a long hiatus, he's now back to enthrall us with a jazz album. Well... my cup of tea!!!!!!!!!

I listened to HK CR2 903 radio and he's interviewed by Vani and heard a song called 十二个音 and the melody sounds sooooo familiar and it dawned on me that it's a cover of the song by my favourite Sabahan group, Double Take!!!! The original song composed by Roger Wang called Love Scale. Seriously... search for Double Take's album, support local artiste too. Their debut album released in 2002 is called One Voice.Six Strings.Twelve Mood.

Enjoy the good music. The kacau-bilau scenes in Malaysian political landscape need some rest.

Up In The Air (2009)

Up In The Air (2009)
Director : Jason Reitman
Cast : George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, Jason Bateman
Tagline : The story of a man ready to make connection

With Thank You For Smoking and Juno as his previous works, Reitman's next feature is definitely being waited with expectations and I say he trumped it with this nicely made feature. With the right economic climate now which I am sure the movie will touch many, it centres around Clooney's character who works as someone who fires people from their job.

Clooney never fails to sizzle the screen given the good scripts and directors (sans the action thriller he did with Nicole Kidman and a few more... oh, who can forget the Batman???). Farmiga is really attractive here and will spur me to look for her previous works. Kendrick did a good job as the newbie in the industry. No wonder the cast filled the nominations in film festival.

Quote 1 :
Ryan Bingham: [on getting through airport security] Never get behind old people. Their bodies are littered with hidden metal and they never seem to appreciate how little time they have left. Bingo, Asians. They pack light, travel efficiently, and they have a thing for slip on shoes. Gotta love 'em.
Natalie Keener: That's racist.
Ryan Bingham: I'm like my mother, I stereotype. It's faster.

Quote 2 (while firing people) :
Ryan Bingham: Anybody who ever built an empire, or changed the world, sat where you are now. And it's *because* they sat there that they were able to do it.

Where Have All The Heads Gone????

With cow head being paraded and now wild boar head thrown into the mosque's vicinity plus the burning of churches, you must be wondering what the hell is happening. Playing with fire seems to be the common observations.

It's Sunday Tomorrow.... and I Am Holding My Breath

Well..it's sunday tomorrow. Albeit all the damage-control efforts and minute fire-fighting measures and visits and countless photo-ops for TV and newspaper today.... I am really holding my breath on the newspaper columns in the Utusan Melayu and Berita Harian.

Well... let's see.........

Sad Black Moment in Malaysia

Those who committed the arsonic act and attack on the church will face their punishment one day. It's evident now that the manipulations by the despicable politicians and countless hatred seed planted were blooming and fluorishing now. These need to be seriously condemned and acted on.

Let's accept responsibility in this. I am not saying that we should bear responsibility for those who committed the act as mentioned above. I am saying that as fellow Malaysians, we have to take responsibility for what the country turned into. To those eligible voters who still haven't register or registered voters who never ever vote before, please exercise your rights and responsibilities. It's not only affecting you but also your family and friends because it do matter.

Take a look at what Art Harun wrote here.

The End of An Era in Sandakan

Sandakan's 1st KFC. It's gonna be closed soon as the 2 "FOR RENT" banners indicated. As evident from the photo, it's on a prime location, in one of the busiest junctions in Sandakan.

One of the main attraction of the premise is that it's the best location for people watching. Of course during my school time which was at least 15 years ago, it's the prime hang out place. And of course, there's no Starbucks or Coffee Bean around so KFC is the "in" hang out place after school, birthday party venue and gathering/meeting place as well.

I had lots of memories of this place. I remembered I bring my parents to have their 1st KFC here too. Both me and my sister belanja them. There was another time I remember after some First Aid Competition where all of us had some meals there and did some nasty stuff there. Some of us put some ice chips into the tomato/chilli sauce bottles and some were being reprimanded and scolded by the managers there too!!! Hahaha... not me though.

So, what about you????

NOTE : I had my last KFC in 2009 today, courtesy of the cash coupon from Esther. Thanks!

Happy New Year 2010

Mary and Max (2009)

Mary and Max (2009)
Toni Collette, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Barry Humphries, Eric Bana
Tagline : Sometimes perfect strangers make the best friends

Max : (to Mary) Dr Bernard Hazelhof said if I was on a desert island then I would have to get used to my own company - just me and the coconuts. He said I would have to accept myself, my warts and all, and that we don't get to choose our warts. They are part of us and we have to live with them. We can, however, choose our friends and I am glad I have chosen you.

Thanks to Sherry, I had the chance to watch this underdog gem. It officially jumped into my top 10 movies of the year. I somehow had the same feeling while watching Wall-E few years ago. The movie is basically a galore of quotes in its dialogues that made you think of your life and friends and family, a perfect movie to end the year especially if you are in the recap and review mode like me. Sherry said "it's a tad sad but perfect" which I totally agree. Luckily it was sad ending rather than the typical Hollywood-type cheesy happy ending. The movie was based on true story which I gotta check out soon.

Music-wise, Que Sera Sera was impeccably used in the movie in a memorable scene. I always think that the song has an inert creepiness in it and the movie utilized it to the max. It has the same effect as "End of The World" by Skeeter Davis used in Girl, Interrupted (Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie). Well, go figure!

P/S : To all my friends, I am glad I have chosen you and got chosen back as well.
P/SS : WATCH THIS!!!

You Understand This? (Mandarin & Cantonese Proficiency Required)

Kudos to Hu Jin Tao for being able to suppress his laugh or even his smile at the lousy Mandarin by the new Chief of Macau Special Administrative Region, 崔世安. His Mandarin is definitely on par with the likes of Ekin Cheng and Louis Koo. Have a good laugh for the week ahead.

Two Lovers (2008)

Two Lovers (2008)
Joaqui Phoenix, Gwyneth Paltrow, Isabella Rosselini
Tagline : Sometimes we leave everything to find ourselves

OK. I can hardly finish the movie. It's a rare occasion for me to abandon the movie (even if it's watching DVD) half way and I did just that for this. According to IMDB, this movie got rave reviews and most of them gave 8-10 stars out of ten and I TOTALLY didn't get it at all. I think the plot is lame and kinda predictable. The reviews raved about Phoenix's performance but I just didn't get it. Maybe it didn't appeal to me so that's my own personal problem. For Paltrow, I always think she's not the classic beauty but she has something in her though she didn't do much here. Isabella Rosselini is great as usual but that's enough for me to endure the whole film. Having said that, you should try it yourself. And let me know. I feel sorry for not finishing the movie.

《聖誕快樂》- (1984)

I never know that this song was actually featured in the movie. The movie is like the must-watch come every Christmas when I was a small kid. Of course, at the time, there were not many TV channels around, not even TV3 let alone paid cable. The movie will be shown without fail in TV2 or RTM2 at that time EVERY Christmas.. I mean... EVERY Christmas, just like another movie during Chinese New Year (let that be another post in the future). Helmed by Karl Mak and Paula Tsui, this feel-good movie also starred a lot of actors who's not here anymore, i.e. Leslie Cheung and Danny Chan.
