"SUNSETLESS" Sutera Harbour Sunset Charity Run

The worrying signs : no sunshine. the clouds are dark. the sky is gloomy. WILL THERE BE ANY SUNSET?????

It's the 2007 Sutera Harbour Charity Run on 07.07.07 and it has all the necessary drama and unique coincidence (like it's the 7km run, 7th run and stuff....) but not being heavily promoted, not even in the local papers. Of course, you get news like what company sponsored and submitted their application forms etc but since it's the 2007 Visit Malaysia Year, I think it will be logical to make it big, especially considering the fact that not many runs in Malaysia is being organized at the evening, as mostly in the morning.

SO, WAS THERE ANY SUNSET???? ANSWER : NO SUNSET

Having said that, the run was still a fun one.

The main stage ready for some performances and prize giving after the run, Sutera Harbour Marina Club.

Roaming around the club before the run starts. The dork with ships parked, presenting another look with the gloomy sky color as compared to last year's amazing sunset.
Another on the ship.

The kids were waving to me to take their pics, exciting to start their run.

Me posing in front of the kids as if I'm the singer performing on stage with a bunch of screaming fans haha.... I was totally dreaming.

On the mini-stage before the run.

The crowd working on the aerobics before the run.

"We can't wait anymore.....we wanna run!!!!"

Hell break lose....

"Let the kids run first....we follow suit"

The crowd is dispersing... no more sardine packed.

A wonder of human reclaimation - man made beach.

Another shot of the man-made beach.

The great love of father.

Youngsters nowdays strive for individuality. The boring (though the V-shape neck added some edgy touch) run t-shirt was being cut sleeveless and here they are, the cool chicks years to come. Nice work there and great pose too gals!

A "extremely-fake" running pic. Haha... asked run-with-me to take my pic as if I'm on my returning journey while I'm indeed still on the way hahahahaha......

My friend, Eric Seah who's always a runner and of course, way ahead of me.

Spotted a flight on the way.

Teo, my treasure hunt buddy now will be my Sunset Run buddy.

Again, civic lesson for throw-rubbish-to-the-bin should be teached.

The coastal fly-over.

Oh.... Kim Tsuey on the run too. I better run cox she seemed to threatening me with her pointing fingers.

With Teo.

There goes the performance and the emcee from the Traxx.fm, Greenman and Jeremy.

Under the big umbrella.....

The show begins.....

The gal started to sing....

She goes Ella Ella eh eh eh eh umbrella...........

The crowd doing YMCA...

The run was soo fun and deserved to be bigger and the 10000 KKian who turned out despite minimal promotion will definitely be bigger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7 New Wonders of the World

Tonnes of exciting things happened on the 07.07.07. Besides the KK Sunset Charity Run that I participated and will be featured next, the Live Earth concerts were held all over the world; London's Wembley Stadium Sydney’s Aussie Stadium; Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach; Johannesburg’s Cradle of Human Kind; Tokyo’s Tokyo Stadium and in Shanghai.

And of course, another one that might have something to do with you, if you did vote before this, is the 7 New Wonders of the World. After the Pyramid of Giza, Egypt was accorded a sure entry, the remaining 6 seats were up for grabs. and after about a year of voting, the results were in:

1. The Pyramids of Giza

2. The Great Wall of China

3. Rome's Colosseum

4. India's Taj Mahal

5. Peru's Machu Picchu

6. Brazil's Statue of Christ Redeemer

7. Mexico's Chichen Itza Pyramid

MY QUALM : Where's Angkor Wat??????????????????????????????????????

一世英名 - Yat Sai Ying Ming

My friend liangmoi gave me a sniping remarks once, "You ah...一世英名 lah". It's regarding my "absentminded"ness....

Though I had been flying quite frequently, I still managed to forget some important personal documents!!!!!!!! Who else to blame????? Myself. Anyway, it's acknowledged and admitted. Money wasted of course!!!

My Date at 1717 on 07.07.07

I have a date on 2007, July 07 at hour 1717.

It's Sutera Harbour Sunset Charity Hunt 2007. Run for fun, health and charity. This year I will be joined by a friend of mine, Mr. Run-with-Me , who's extremely passionate about this whole running business. As for me, I take it as an opportunity to do some charity and appreciate the awesome view of sunset of KK at one of the busiest road in KK City.

Some snaps and write-up of the previous 2006 run that I joined :

Edward Yang : 1947-2007

AP Photo/ Laurent Rebours : Yang in 2000 Cannes Film Festival

Edward Yang who won the Best Director in 2000 Cannes Film Festival died of complications of colon cancer on Sunday, July 1. He's famous for his honest, or sometimes brutal portrayal of the real Taiwan society. Zhang Chen, who had catapulted to his fame now since Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" got his first break in Yang's feature film on the street kids life in "A Brighter Summer Day" in 1991. His winning feature in 2000 "Yi Yi 一一" is one of my favourite movie. Though spanning about 3 hours long, the heart-warming family story following a series of incidents happening after the grandmother of the family having a serious ailment really touched my heart.

A great loss to Taiwan cinema or Chinese cinema in a bigger perspective.

IMac, IPod, Now...IPhone. What's next? ILife?

Reuters Photo : A crowd of people waiting in line near an Apple logo before the initial sale...

The latest craze of the techies and gadget-maniac will be the IPhone. Looking at the queue at the major stores in U.S., it can be a safe bet that it will become another item-to-get. Even the Governor of (oppss... forgot what state is it) was caught in line queuing at the Apple store!

Selling at USD499 and 599 for 2Gb and 4Gb storage, boasting a phone and IPod integration I guess it will be selling like a hot cake. However, as most new invention, be it the phone or camera, advices will be wait for a few months as very likely the invention will be updated with comments and glitches being solved.

So, wondering what's lining up at Steve Job's office now?

Kenangan Terindah - Uni Intake Time

It is the season again. The season where thousands of freshies pack their bags with their hopes or unrealistic utopia-heaven dream of local universities and head to the much-touted-but-sometimes-disappointing ivory tower. I saw a counter specially erected for the registration of new students in the KKIA Air Asia airport when I sent my colleague to his flight. 2 big bus were stationed at the airport to transport these youngsters to the place where they will get their dreams realized or squashed for the next 3-4 years. Such a good treatment and this made me remembered my time when I went to my uni for my degree course 8 years ago.

taken before moving to transkrian

I took a flight to KL transit via KK from SDK and yeah... no Air Asia that time and our only saviour is the MAS Grads student card program and since we just got the intake, we didn't have ample time to apply for the card for 25% discount on normal fare. I still remember it's the Subang Airport. Chok and his friend went to the airport to fetch me (thanks brother...). I spent a night at his place in Setapak before taking a bus trip up to Ipoh. I remembered I brought two bags with me and Chok helped me with the bigger one and it was a heavy one indeed. The night spent in Setapak opened my eyes on the life of a uni/college student where mamak rules. Setapak basically never sleep. I still remembered I slept to the tune of the latest "technotised" pop tune from tonnes of the pirated VCD peddlers around the area.

taken during christmas in 2001, i think after dinner around imbi plaza

The next morning, we took a bus to KL and Chok the great friend he is, took charge of the gigantic bag and we had agreed to meet Falice and Mee Foung if I am not wrong. We met in Kota Raya (yeah... wonder how many of you still go there now?) and had a lunch in the food court before I moved ahead to the Pudu Raya bus stop. Got a bus up to Ipoh and had nothing in mind. Dunno what to expect and what to prepare. When I reached Medan Kidd (yeah... a funky name for the main bus station in Ipoh), I found that the USM bus was long gone and I had to take my own. The bus to Lumut will drop me off mid-way and I will be at the door step of my place to enlighten myself for the next 3 years, USM Kampus Kejuruteraan Tronoh, Perak. I remembered asking the conductor and he mentioned, when you see pokok ru, you know you are near. And that's exactly what we tell other people about the location of Tronoh campus, when you reach a place least expected to see some pokok ru which you normally find at the beach, you are there. TRONOH there you go!!!

I walked all the way, literally dragging my gigantic bag to the main hall where the orientation for the new students started already and apparently I was in WRONG ATTIRE, obviously dressed down cox for a period of a week, it will be either formal wear or sportswear!!!! What a way to start the soon-to-come 3 years of wonderful friends and experiences but less-can-be-said of academic pursuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PR Status for Illegal Philippinos in Sabah???????

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2007/6/28/nation/18152025&sec=nation

I just couldn't believe it! How can this happen? I mean the Federal Government plan to do this??? At the expense of local Sabahans??? Now I understand why the uncles in the coffee shop keeps complaining about federal government.

How to show our objection in this case??????????? Oh speaking of which, the famous MP is in the limelight on this issue again. I felt sorry that all those who wear bow-tie cox the bow-tie wearing politicians are definitely not the right example of wise and thoughtful person that you guys are normally associated with.

Flying High up in the Sky

Due to work, flied quite frequently. Been through some lousy flight with strong turbulence or kids crying (no offense to those with crying kids), rude passenger who keep talking like they are at their own house and stuff. However, like the feeling being on a plane though nowadays I tend to sleep immediately I'm in the plane, which is a blessing, in a way. Guess I like the feeling of being high up in the sky and looking at the beautiful sunset and made me realize how timid I am in this whole universe. Also like the tranquility inside the flight sans the disturbance mentioned above of course. Speaking of which sometimes I get the similar calm excitement (yeah...another oxymoronic terms) when it's raining and cold. Now it strengthen my believe that most of the time, it's not really the place you are at that determines your feeling or liking but more than often it's the people you are with that really matters. Neither flying or raining, I do feel that now. Oh... minus the flight turbulence though....
And yeah... my friend Erin will be embarking on a new journey this coming Sunday and I wish her all the best in her future endeavour. Take care. Will miss the fun arguing "intellectually" with you haha...

Couch Surfing (CS) and Hospitality Club (HC) - Friends II

With Emma, taken in the Uncle Tan's place in Gum Gum, Mile 16, Sandakan

Emma is a great guest and we chatted a lot while she joined me travelling back to Sandakan, from both our interest in movies, musics and her stories about her own travel, life and Scandinavian countries in general. She's definitely welcomed back here anytime!!! I'm sure Hezrina will agree to this too.

Hey, Emma, the pics above is what I promised to send to you. You can copy it here. Take care and keep in touch.

I Committed a SERIOUS Mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I admit I am never good with dates, hence never remember birthdays very well. And yeah...this includes the fact that I only remember without fault the birthday of one of my best buddies Lily recently.
However, for Sherry's case, it's not that I forgot her birthday but I forgot when the day came!!! I remembered well the date but when the day came, it completely eluded me. Blame me for being too busy with works and occupied with something else maybe?

Auntie Sherry changed from babysitting other people's baby in a nursery to babysitting her own.

Anyway, I wanna apologize to Auntie Sherry for forgetting to wish her Happy Birthday on her big day and I wanna dedicate this lame post to her as the mean to make it up haha.....

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY

HAPPY BELATED MOTHER'S DAY

Still remember this? I know, it's ages!!!

Love's in The Air - Oh.. or rather babies are in the air

For the past few days, I have been cornered by the word baby. Not that I had one or going to have one but the news about baby, the baby visiting activities filled up my daily task hehe....

Starting from the cute little god-daughter of mine, Olivia who stole everyone's heart to the recently check-in baby girl Carmen of Andrew to Kathy and also the baby-in-coming news from the ever joyful J, it's babies in the air!!!!

Baby Olivia

Mummy Sherry and Olivia

Uncle Ah Tan and Olivia

Auntie Julia and Olivia

Over The Rainbow

Took the pics below while driving along the Shantung Road and stopped my car to take the pic. The rainbow was formed across the whole horizon, framing a half circle while it's still drizzling.

I believe the Chinese sayings, 雨过天晴. Not only it will be a nice day ahead but the rainbow will be some sort of signs of hope which is coming on the way.

I believe somewhere over the rainbow, there lies a hope and that's where I will be. It's a new chapter and definitely a much looking-forwarded one.

Also to some of my friends who's embarking on a whole new journey, all the best!!!

What A Simple Gesture/Things Can Do?

It's amazing sometimes how a simple thing/possession can do for you. The little stuff can do incredible things, i.e. evoking your feelings, change your perspective on something, distract your attention from your mundane boring life etc...
The famous chicken pau eaten while on the way back to Sandakan. Taken on the dashboard of my car.

Perfect Monday

I used to dread Mondays, being the first working day after the enjoyable 2 days break (oh.. for those who still work on Sat, sorry yeah....). But given a new perspective of looking at things, it can't be that bad.

My previous Monday and yesterday were a testatment to that. So, from now on, there'll be no Monday blues but perfecto Monday instead!!!

小情歌 - 苏打绿 (A Little Love Song - Soda Green)

Fresh from winning the 2007 Taiwan Golden Melody Awards for Best Group and Best Composer after scoring 7 nominations, A Little Love Song by Soda Green.

小情歌 - 苏打绿
A Little Love Song - Soda Green

Shopping Therapy - Prequel Part 2

Bought this is Miri while wandering around the Bintang Shopping Complex before bumped into Sabrina and her sister, Michelle who were there to attend their bro's graduation from Curtin U. Yeah, speaking about that, they haven't send me the pics we took together in the Grand Old Lady. Come on, send the pics, Sabrina!!!
OK, the album above is good. Sean is well-known in theatre which I had watched a few when I was still working in KL. He had a small role in Anna and the King, the Jodie Foster and Chow Yun Fatt edition too. Recently crowned as the Best Newcomer in AIM Awards, the album is a trip back to the nostalgic lane with tunes made familiar by P.Ramlee and gang. Some notable new tunes are Semalam and Kuimpikan Bintang which are the tracks that stand out. A cheeky fun song called "Dengar Ini Cerita" featuring Ida Nerina and Adibah Noor is no less fun than P. Ramlee's version in the movie Hujan Pagi. My personal fave is "Rambutnya Hitam, Matanya Galak".

Shopping Therapy - Prequel Part 1

The CDs were bought in Miri International Jazz Festival, both in 2006 and 2007. I bougt the Boogieology by Lluis Coloma in 2006 during the 1st festival and with their comeback this year, I bought their latest CD which "surprisingly" come with track No. 1 named "Goin' to Malaysia". Clever Coloma huh?
Bought 2 CDs of George Washing Machine as well. And I was delighted to know that the original song of P. Ramlee's, forgot the name was originally a folk tune from Italy called Isle of Capri dated back to 1934.

The Jack Johnson CD was bought in Hanoi, Vietnam. At USD2, the double CD was worth every single dollar I paid as it comes with a nice wooden packaging and lyrics.
